Summer Submissions—Part 3

Here's the third and final installment of the list of print journals that read during the summer. Again, please let me know if you spot an error. And be sure to check the guidelines for specifics. Most, if not all, of these journals have websites.

Reminder of how the list works:
**indicates that simultaneous submission is ok
x indicates the number of times the journal publishes per year.
If dates are not included, that means the journal reads all year.

  1. Actually, we don't read during the summer at VQR. (That's when we catch up on the backlog! Also, many of our readers are off having summertime college-student adventures.) Our reading period is from September 1 through May 31, and has been for 83 years. :)

  2. Ooops. I said it might not be completely accurate. I checked many, but obviously not all. I'll delete VQR right now. Thanks for letting me know about the error.

  3. Thanks for the list. Now, I just need to work up the courage to send something off.

  4. You don't need courage! You've got the wonderful poems. Just do it. Good luck!

  5. Thanks for this! I need to get back in the saddle with sending out poems -- I've been putting all my submission energy into the book ms. lately and the poor homeless poems are starting to pile up unsent!

  6. Thanks, Don. I'd made a mental note to add Poetry. So much for my mental notes. I just added it to the list.

  7. I think ZYZZYVA reads in the summer, too?

  8. Z's guidelines don't specify their reading period, so I assume that means they do read during the summer. However, I haven't included this journal because they take submissions only from West Coast writers.
